Medieval Women’s Spirituality is a course that surprised me in many ways. It encouraged me to think in ways I hadn’t thought of before. Additionally, the analytical nature of our discussions helped me to understand the different perspectives of my classmates. Often times we would have different views on what a section of text means. Through our discussions, I learned from my classmates perspectives. There were many times where we would spend an entire class discussing the motifs of a single excerpt from the text because of its ambiguity. However, Dr. Scheppard taught me how break down something I had no understanding of and make sense of it by first putting together the smaller pieces of the puzzle. Over the course of the semester I built up the foundation of this skill. This intricate way of breaking down the meaning of something helped me to construct the essay below, which I discussed inside of my reflective essay.
