I learned a lot about global politics during my time in Dr. Andersen’s class. Each class we would watch news from around the world and discuss what we were seeing. This led to important and engaging conversations about the global political climate. We also discussed the economic situations of various countries and how they interacted with each other on the global stage. Through active engagement during class, I became more aware of how global politics functions. I learned how various societal differences could factor into a country’s policy making decisions or economy. The culmination of skills and knowledge gained from this class allowed me to research and elaborate on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world.

This artifact was written a few years after the COVID-19 pandemic started. The goal was to analyze the impact that a country’s culture had on its response to the outbreak. After doing this analysis, I examined how well these different responses worked for each respective country. I discussed the socioeconomic impact that various countries faced based on their responses. Contained in the Global Citizenship and Intercultural Competencies section of my essay, this paper showcases what I learned.
